Protology is the study of first things. An archetype is the primal or typical example of a thing. The Protological Archetype range of garments are a series in which the garments are reduced to the bare essence of the item, representing each product category. There is a pant, a shirt, a coat, a jacket, a hoodie and so on... Each garment reduced to its essential components and forms the foundation from which other variants in different complexity or simplicity will follow.

This example of the concept is developed as a overlocked denim shirt jacket.

The selvedge edges of the fabric, used at placket, back seams and cuffs, act as accenting details. The collar of the shirt is one piece and is cut onto the body. The side seams are rotated to the back and cut on the selvedge edge of the denim. The sleeves, each constructed of a single piece of fabric, retain the features of a traditional shirt sleeve but are simplified according to the concept. The cuff is closed by a single button and loop closure that is not visible from the outside.
